I liked Venom when he was evil.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the new movie and it was great (and the first time I've ever really liked Eddie Brock as a character), but like, in the overall grand scheme of things I genuinely prefer Venom as a Bad Guy.

My favorite Venom stories are always his first appearance where he was connected to Spider Man and created and fed off negative emotions. I loved the Black Suit Arc. Venom as a dangerous parasite that isolated Peter by making him lash out at friends and family until all he needed was Venom was great.

I love thinking of him as a possessive, dangerous, bad thing.

He's scary because he takes over your body and has total control if he wants it. If you have any control it's because Venom allowed it. That's amazing and terrifying.

Especially the possessiveness he puts in his possession.

I think my favorite Venom moment of all time though was in Spectacular Spider-Man where he is attached to Eddie Brock and Peter goes "You were right. I missed you & need you--come back to me." and Venom DOES IT.

He dropped Eddie like a rock.

Now, I will admit my love for Symbiote x Peter is a huge bias in all this, but I love that pairing pretty specifically because Venom is evil & takes Peter against his will.

The end point of all this is that while I do understand people really love the whole Eddie & Venom married love story thing, I don't think that should be the only way to see Venom as a character.
